Case studies

These examples illustrate how interim executives bring specialist expertise to facilitate significant change. Each assignment plays to the interim's strengths and previous experience - minimising risk and leaving lasting value.

From time to time, interims fill an unexpected gap in a management team - but the majority of assignments are planned to help an organisation adjust to changing circumstances and new challenges.

1.    Since 2001, AshtonPenney Interim has worked with a major Government Agency on numerous assignments: establishing project management disciplines, developing and marketing new electronic products, pricing and licensing products and filling unexpected gaps in their senior management team.

2.    AshtonPenney Interim has provided strategic support for several Regional Development bodies on many occasions, managing major projects and contributing to improvements in procurement, ICT, logistics and finance management.

3.    In the most recent of several assignments for a Central Government, an AshtonPenney interim worked to develop the Programme Management function for the Department's overall portfolio of change.

4.    The Cabinet Office appointed an AshtonPenney interim as Chief Executive to take a Department through the transition to Agency status.

5.    An AshtonPenney interim executive has worked with a major Government Agency to manage a Diversity audit of policies and procedures and to provide expert advice on diversity and employment law issues.

6.    AshtonPenney Interim is a contributor to a major Department's "Live Database" of interim executives - and it is an AshtonPenney interim executive who is currently Director of one of the Departments specifically charged with improving the efficiency of service delivery.
